The Ranger Track & Field and Softball teams volunteered for the Bremerton Backpack Brigade on Saturday, November 4.  The teams collected donations and food for six hours to help support the Brigade's mission to help end weekend hunger.  Student-Athletes expressed an interest in serving the community during last year's end-of-season meetings with Head Track & Field Coach Jakan Austin.  "It's incredibly exciting to hear that members of the team are eager to give back to the community," he shared, "It truly shows their dedication and desire to make a positive impact."

"Our athletic department is very proud of the support and involvement of our Track & Field and Softball teams in providing assistance to this very important project," shared Athletic Director Barry Janusch.  The teams collected an impressive 1,657.9 pounds of food and $277 in donations.

"This was an an amazing opportunity for OC Athletics to give back to the community, make a positive impact, and show our gratitude," said Austin, "We will continue to find ways to come together and give back.  Together we can make a difference."

The teams will volunteer again on December 2.
