The NWAC Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI) Committee has selected nine student-athletes to join the committee for the 2023-24 school year. Ranger sophomore Missy Valdez from the women's basketball team was among the nine selected. This is the first time the NWAC DEI Committee will have student-athlete representatives.
"My AD thought this would be a great opportunity for me to be a part of. I am honored to be selected and am looking forward to being a positive part of the committee." shared Valdez, "DEI is a very important topic and I anticipate learning a lot from the other members."
The NWAC Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI) Committee will offer unique opportunities for discussion, networking, and supporting the conference at all levels. The selection of student-athletes supports the committee and conference goals of having additional voices be heard and included in conversations and campaigns. The three core values of the DEI Committee are: awareness, empathy, and respect. The student-athletes will be integral to addressing these core values and helping the conference align with the #NWACcares campaign throughout the year.
