Sam comes to OC while continuing to pursue a career in professional baseball. In 2017, he was drafted in the 8th round by the Chicago White Sox, directly out of Curtis High School. Sam spent the 2017-2022 seasons with the White Sox organization. Most recently, Sam has played in multiple independent and winter leauges including Australia and Nicaragua. He currently holds the single season home run record for the Gary Railcats, setting that record in 2023. 

Most recently, Sam was selected in the inagural baseball united draft by Dubai in the 7th round in 2023 where he plans to continue playing professional baseball.
