Rangers Men's Basketball Team Awards

Most Improved - Wayne Jamison

From when wayne started on campus at OC to now he has grown so much as a player. In all aspects he has added value to his game and played a huge role in our success this year because of his hard work in the weight room and on the floor. Wayne was comsistently one of the best two way players in our region and proved it everytime he stepped on the floor. We are excited for Wayne's continued growth and to see where his future takes him.

Defensive MVP - Tyler Williford

Whether it was in practice or at shoot around or in the NWAC tournament Tyler brought a toughness and a defensive mentality to the floor. He took it upon himself to shit down any threats in the paint and would regularly ask me for the toughest defensive assignment. No better time than in the first round of the NWAC tournament where Tyler held a very good 6'8 kid to 2 points and fouled him out. It was an impressive display of individual defense.

Offensive MVP - Aundree Polk

Aundree lead our very aggressive and very confident offensive attack. Teams regularly had to play a zone defense against us because they could not have a defender stay in front of him. He is one of the most offensively talented players I have been around. He can shoot it, drive, sees the floor well and makes good decisions on the fly. He stepped up in big moments all year and made some truly amazing shots. You could tell that most if not all defenders had a look of fear in their eyes when they would be guarding Aundree.

Ranger Award - Jayden Upshaw

Jayden is such a pleasure to be around. He's always smiling and bringing a positive energy to our program. He has been around OC for a long time and has left an unforgettable mark on our campus and in our lockeroom. He's a great person. He always went the extra mile to make sure his teammates were doing well with classes and regularly gave wisdom to some of our younger players. He will be successful in anything he does in life because of his leadership and his amazing interpersonal skills.
