BREMERTON | Roger O'Hara finished tied for 10th at the OC Invite, hosted by Gold Mountain Golf Club. O'Hara (So., Olympic HS / Bremerton, WA) struggled a bit on the front nine before steadying his play on the back nine. He finished with an eagle on 18 to secure the tie for 10th.
"The men didn't play as well as they would have liked, especially with the Olympic course being one of their home tracks," shared head coach Bjorn Bjorke, "Conditions were tough and seemed to get the best of the team at times."
Freshman Jacob Madison (Chimacum HS / Chimacum, WA) was +2 heading into the back nine and hitting the ball well. He really struggled down the stretch, finishing with an 83 (+11), earning 13th place. Teammates Landon Betzing (Fr., Klahowya SS / Silverdale, WA) and Josh Hein (Fr., Orting HS / Orting, WA) finished with scores of 84 (+12) and 87 (+15) respectively.
Bjorke isn't deterred by today's play. "I think our players put a lot of pressure on themselves playing the Olympic Course," he shares, "They hit the ball better than they scored. We head down to Pumpkin Ridge on Monday and it will be a good challenge for these guys."
The teams will play the Ghost Creek Course, made famous by Tiger Woods, who won his third consecutive U.S. Amateur Championship there. The course is located just outside Portland, Oregon.
