Chandler Releases Women's Basketball End of Year Awards

Chandler Releases Women's Basketball End of Year Awards

End of year awards for women's basketball have been released by Head Coach Alyson Chandler.  Congrats to the below athletes!

CO- Most Valuable PlayersAlannah Northam Kylee Walker

Alannah Northam - Averaged a double-double this season with points and rebounds. She was our starting point guard and averaged 30+ min a game. Alannah closed out more than 1 game securing wins for us by either scoring, hitting clutch free throws or bringing up the ball against a full court press. She was a quiet leader on the court and really allowed her actions and efforts to motivate her teammates to be their best as well.

Kylee Walker - Kylee was our leading scorer this year averaging 13.2 points per game. She was a captain and really set the tone in practice and in games to compete hard every day. Most teams would either box and 1 her or try to deny her the ball and she was still able to score double digits every game. Kylee averaged 35+ minutes per game and competed to the last second. In more than one game was she able to make big shots and big defensive stops late in the game to secure the win.

Defensive Player Missy May Valdez

Missy May Valdez - Missy averaged 3+ steals per game playing 30+ minutes per game. Missy played the top of our zone defense and press. Every Coach we played against either had to game prep against her or mentioned post-game how much of a nuisance she is.  Missy guarded 1-5 and had more chase down blocks than any other player in the league at 5'3''. Missy was not only relied on to create chaos on the defensive end but also to score for us. She was second leading scorer on our team averaging 12.8 points per game and was named to the North Region's All-Defensive team.

Best Energy Madilyn Neil

Madilyn Neil - Maddy's energy was contagious and consistent. She was vocal and inspired her teammates every practice during every drill. Maddy genuinely cheered for her teammates success on and off the court. She was a player that showed up to the gym early and stayed late, inspiring her teammates to do the same. Maddy was a captain and not only maintained amazing energy, she was 2nd leading rebounder on our team and led our team in assists.

Most ImprovedAshley Olson

Ashley Olson - Ashley joined our team late in the season and had no intention of playing basketball for OC. Inspired by the teams' culture and a little motivation from Madilyn Neil, former volleyball teammate, she decided to play.  She showed up to the first practice giving 100% and grew everyday more and more. She quickly moved up to the 6th man role making a huge impact off the bench and closing out a lot of close games for us. She finsihed the season as the 4th leading scorer.
