Starting his collegiate career at Edmonds CC, he earned 1st Team All NWAC honors, and won a Gold Glove. While playing for the Bellingham Bells of the WCL (West Coast League), he was an All Star, 1St Team WCL, was named as a WCL Top 30 Player, and won the WCL Batting Title in 2016.

After Edmonds, he earned a spot at Marshall University. Coach Hanon hit .341 in his 3 year varsity career at Marshall. He led Marshall in hitting in 2 of his 3 years there, and was 2nd on the team in hitting the other year. While at Marshall, he showed off his versatility by playing OF, 3B,and 1B. He was top 10 in CUSA (Conference USA) batting twice.
